Questions

What is take-home pay?

Take-home pay (net pay) is what you receive after income tax and the social contributions an employee pays, such as pension, health or unemployment insurance. It is the number that has to cover rent and bills.

Which tax year do these calculators use?

Each country uses its current tax year, shown at the top of its page: for example 2026 for the United States and Germany, 2026/27 for the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, and 2026-27 for Australia. All tables were last checked on 19 October 2026.

Why isn't my country here?

We add a country only once we can check its rules against official sources and test the results. Until then, the salary converter and moving calculator still work for every city on the site using take-home pay.
